No tolerance for terrorists

The cowardly act of suicide attack on the residence of CID SSP Chaudhry Aslam claiming 8 precious lives is an eye-opener for the police and Rangers who had the prior information that terrorists would strike in the city in the early hours. It has been claimed that all security measures were taken in advance which makes it quite mind-boggling as to how a terrorist could roam around on the city streets unchecked.
The banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for carrying out the attack. Despite the gravity of the situation, Chaudhry Aslam spoke with tremendous courage stating that he would even come out stronger against the terrorist outfits which have endangered the peace of city of lights. It is about time that unhindered efforts were made to hunt down the culprits. Those responsible should be dealt with an iron hand.
It is painful to observe that the situation in Karachi was getting better after the Rangers were given additional powers and a clean-up operation was launched.
A large number of suspected terrorists and extortionists were nabbed and a huge amount of weapons was recovered. Nothing should deter the authorities to take bold step and initiate action against armed gangs responsible for disturbing peace in Karachi.
