The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) arrested more than 23 people from different parts of the city on Saturday and also recovered weapons. The Pakistan Ranger cordoned off a vacant plot in Surjani Town and recovered heavy weapon after digging there. They found three LMGs, five Kalashnikovs, a repeater, three pistols, 50 hand grenades and five Paktia LMGs.
They also arrested five people at the spot. Separately, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested an alleged terrorist in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. CID official Fayyaz Ahmed said that the suspect, identified as Masoodur Rehman, is a member of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and a a Kalashnikov and a suicide jacket has been recovered from his possession.
The Pakistan Rangers also conducted a raid at a fire brigade station in Korangi No 2 and arrested fire-fighters Nisar, Akhter, Dildar, Ismaeel, Rayaz, Khalid and 11 other employees of the Fire Department, suspecting their involvement in targeted killings.
