Multiple bomb attacks at a passport and identity card office in the Iraqi shrine city of Karbala killed at least three people and wounded a dozen others on Sunday, security officials said.
An initial roadside bomb at 9:30 am (0630 GMT) outside the offices in the centre of the city, 110 kilometres (70 miles) south of Baghdad, was followed by three other explosions once emergency responders arrived at the scene, a police officer in Karbala said.
An interior ministry official, however, said a magnetic “sticky bomb” attached to the car of an employee of the passport and identity card office detonated, followed by a roadside bomb attack outside the office.
The official put the toll at three dead and 12 wounded. A defence ministry official confirmed the toll.
