Throat-slit victim handcuffed after police deem him ‘suspicious’

Mozang Police handcuffed Younis Joseph, who was found with his throat slit open and hands tied at the Qartaba Chowk about two weeks ago, at Services Hospital to prevent him from escaping, sources told Pakistan Today on Friday.
Unidentified men had tortured and left Joseph in the bushes on the green belt located on the junction where Ferozepur Road meets Jail Road. Joseph had been left to bleed to death with his throat slit open and hands tied. The police have not yet reached a breakthrough as the victim cannot speak since his windpipe was slit.
Investigation sources said Younis was unable to speak, however, he gave three addresses to police in writing, two in Model Town and one in Karachi. Investigators visited the two addresses in Model Town but found no clue. However, after hearing of the Karachi address, police investigators concluded that he belonged to Karachi and was trying to hide his identity.
Investigators said he acted afraid when police investigators visit him. They said they found him suspicious and felt he would escape the hospital and therefore they handcuffed him from escaping. Investigators said investigations were underway and it looked like Younis Joseph was an addict but they could not be sure.
Rs 3 million heist: Robbers looted Rs 3 millions, not Rs 10 millions during the robbery, injured victim Waheed told Police in his statement after recovering slightly from his bullet injury on Friday. Waheed was shot injured, while his partner Sa’adat Hussain was shot dead by robbers on Thursday by two robbers during a robbery bid in the Lytton Road Police precincts.
The deceased’s relatives had claimed robbers have made off with Rs 10 millions in cash. However, Waheed, who was shifted to Mayo Hospital, claimed the amount was Rs 3 million in his initial statement. Lytton Road police entered Rs 3 million in the FIR.
Poisonous gas: Maroof died after breathing in poisonous gases after falling into a gutter on Kacha Kamahan Road in Chungi Amer Sidhu Area on Friday.
Love triangle: Salman Safdar, 21, was shot dead by two men over a love triangle in the Shadbagh Police Area late on Friday. Police said Salman ran a chicken shop near Kot Khawaja Saeed hospital and clashed with another local Awais Butt on a girl. On Friday Salman was sitting at his shop when Awais and a friend shot him after a minor clash.
