Farzana Raja’s daughter goes missing

In what seems to be an extension of a family dispute, Nida Fatima, the 14-year-old daughter of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairwoman Farzana Raja, went missing from the F-6/2 College for Girls here on Friday.
“Nida Fatima, daughter of Madam Farzana Raja, did not return home from school on Friday… the family is investigating the matter and at the moment it would be premature to blame anybody for it,” BISP Director (Media) Shoaib Khan told Pakistan Today. Nida is the daughter of Farzana Raja and Pir Mukarram Shah.
Farzana had married Shah in 1996 and had two children. However, the couple later divorced and Shah filed a custody suit in the civil court of Islamabad. During a custody hearing the couple’s children Nida and Shah Nawaz had told the court that their father had misbehaved with their mother, used to fight a lot and did not even pay for household expenditures, and under these circumstances they did not want to stay with him.
They had said they wanted to live with their mother. Kohsar Police Station House Officer Mahboob Ahmad expressed ignorance about the incident, saying nobody from the family had approached the police station to file a report yet, lending credence to the suspicions that the girl has fallen prey to the family dispute.
