12 more dead as CM launches ‘Dengue Mukao’ campaign

Another 12 people died of the dengue virus in Lahore on Friday, as Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif launched an end dengue campaign in the city named “Qadam Barhao, Dengue Mukao”. Health DG Dr Aslam Chaudhary said 528 more patients were tested positive for dengue virus on Friday, with 463 in Lahore alone.
He said Shahbaz Sharif had given an approval to upgrade 64 dispensaries and health centres into diagnostic and treatment centres for dengue patients. These centres would be converted into dengue treatment centres at a cost of Rs 5.4 billion.
Meanwhile, addressing a seminar to mark the start of the anti-dengue campaign, the chief minister said all segments of the society would have to take part in the war against dengue virus and would have to win this war through collective efforts. Shahbaz said each life was precious to him.
