Wary Khattak tribes to block roads, grab hostages

In an emergency meeting held on Thursday, Khattak Ittehad decided to block the Indus Highway at Amberi Kalay and the Kohat Bannu road at Terri Chowk and Latamber on September 24 against the kidnapping of the two persons of Khattak tribe. The elders of the KI also strongly criticised the district administration for lack of interest in the safe release of the abductees. The meeting, attended by a large number of people, was held at Town Hall with a senior member of KI Captain (r) Ahmad Jan in the chair. Addressing the meeting, former MNA Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz, former provincial minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Fareed Khan Tofan, KI District General Secretary Malik Fareed Azam, Bahader Ustad, Haji Noor Islam, Shah Jehan Khattak and Noor Muhammad expressed concerns over the increasing incidents of kidnapping and added that the government has miserably failed to provide security to the masses.
They added that their aim was not to destabilise the district administration but their aim was the safe release of the abductees. The speakers criticised the district administration for not cooperating with the elders of KI and added District Coordination Officer Karak Muhammad Zubair and District Police Officer Sajid Ahmad Khan Mohmand were not taking interest in the safe release of the kidnapped persons Wahidullah and Hunar Bad Shah.
They demanded the transfer of DCO from district Karak forthwith. In the meeting it was unanimously decided that the people of Tehsil Takht Nusrati and Chountra would block the Indus highway at Amberi Kalay and the people of Banda Daud Shah would block the Kohat Bannu road at Terri Chowk and the people of Sourdag and Latamber at Latamber on September 24 at 9 am for all kinds of traffic. They further decided that the people of sub-tribes Patalkhel and Sadakhel of Wazir tribe and their vehicles would be stopped at the mentioned points after checking their identity cards and would be made hostage in the private jails which according to them prepared in the hilly areas for the purpose. They decided that their protest would continue till the acceptance of their demands. Earlier the elders and workers of KI led by Malik Fareed Azam went to the office of DCO Karak and the DCO refused to meet them and they were stopped to enter the office of DCO. On the occasion the leaders and workers of KI chanted slogans against the DCO and DPO.
