Kashmir resolution only guarantee to regional peace, says Sultan

Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood has said that everyone in Kashmir desired an early and peaceful settlement of the regional dispute. Addressing a press conference in Srinagar before winding up his three-day visit to the Kashmir valley, Barrister Sultan said both India and Pakistan should create conducive atmosphere. “They should hold talks but permanent peace can’t be guaranteed in the region without settlement of the Kashmir dispute”, he added. He said he also discussed various issues with the puppet chief minister of the Indian-held Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, during their recent meeting at the residence of a Kashmiri businessman in Srinagar. “Yes, I had a meeting with Omar Abdullah, during which I discussed cross-LoC (Line of Control) trade, various CBMs (confidence building measures) between Pakistan and India and also brought up the issue of unmarked graves during our discussion,” he maintained.
