University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has declared the result of Entrance Test 2011 for admission to medical and dental colleges of the Punjab.
A total of 33,703 candidates appeared in the Entrance Test held on September 13, out of which 12,374 scored more than 60 percent marks. As many as 5,581 scored 50 to 59 percent whereas 5,214 candidates secured 40 to 49 percent marks. A total of 10,534 candidates scored less than 40 percent marks. According to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s regulations, the pass/fail criterion has been abolished for the medical colleges’ entrance test.
Maham Ali, daughter of Ali Muhammad Farooqui, from Rahim Yar Khan stood first securing 1058/1100 marks whereas Humera Javed, daughter of Asif Javed, from Gujranwala and Muhammad Salman Ashraf, son of Muhamad Ashraf, from Rahim Yar Khan bagged second and third positions by securing 1055/1100 and 1052/1100 marks respectively.
The eligible candidates will compete for 3,205 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 18 public sector medical and dental colleges. Besides, there are 1,500 MBBS and 350 BDS seats available in 15 private sector medical and seven dental colleges of the province.
Addressing a media briefing on Tuesday, UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Malik Hussain Mubbashar said that applications for admissions in public sector medical and dental colleges would be invited from October 5. All those candidates who had secured at least 77 percent aggregate marks according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s formula would be eligible to apply for admission. The last date for submission of application forms is October 15. The first selection list would be displayed on October 30, whereas classes in all public sector medical colleges of the Punjab would commence on November 21, he added.
