Members of civil society and lawyers’ community staged a protest resenting meddling with the affairs of University of Peshawar by certain non-governmental organisations. The protestors, holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against NGOs meddling in the administrative work of the university and its alleged allegations levelled against UoP Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Azmat Hayat, were led by Dr AZ Hilali.
He said the demonstration was meant to resent the so-called NGOs levelling uncalled for allegations against the VC as well as meddling with the affairs of the university to sabotage its peaceful educational environment. They should refrain from trying to bring educational institutions under sway, said the protestors adding that the NGOs should do their assigned job instead of meddling with affairs that were not relevant to them. They said certain teachers of the said university were using the negative propaganda against VC Azmat Hayat to hide their professional incompetence.
