After the imposition of Petroleum Development Levy (PDL), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reduced the price of LPG by Rs 11 per kilogram making it Rs 115 per kg.
A day back OGRA has issued instructions to the production companies to impose PDL on the sale of liquid petroleum gas by at least Rs 13 per kg (Rs 11450 per ton) in order to facilitate the importers of LPG, which was to be implemented from 21 September.
LPG Asociation Pakistan (LPGAP) has criticised the OGRA for increasing the price of LPG. They said the impact of increasing price would have to pass on to the consumers. On the other hand, the people also rejected the implementation of PDL on LPG.
When contacted LPG Association of Pakistan Chairman Irfan Khokhar, he said the association supported new LPG policy 2011. He said the OGRA’s initiative to reduce the price of LPG would provide relief to the consumers especially the people of hilly areas, AJK and Gilgit Baltistan where LPG was used as fuel during winter season.
