Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that only those educational institutions, which have fully taken anti-dengue measures, would be allowed to reopen on the set date. He said that a certificate would also be obtained in this regard from the parents of the students studying at public and private educational institutions.
The CM was addressing the meeting of a special emergency committee set up for controlling dengue virus on Wednesday. Members of national and provincial assemblies, secretaries of various departments, members of Sri Lankan medical team and experts were present in the meeting. The CM said basic purpose of closure of educational institutions was to enable them to take adequate preventive measures against dengue virus and it was their responsibility to complete these arrangements during the period granted.
The meeting was informed that formal legislation had been carried out in the countries where dengue virus had been controlled. The CM said that the matter would be considered in this regard. Health secretary, Lahore commissioner and district coordination officer and various administrative secretaries gave detailed briefings regarding the strategy and steps taken for eradication of dengue virus.
