The foreign affairs ministry on Tuesday informed the Lahore High Court that the federal government would only defend incumbent and former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chiefs before a US Court which had also issued summons to Jamatud Dawa Chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in a lawsuit filed by families of US citizens killed in the Mumbai attacks.
Deputy Attorney General Naseem Kashmiri filed the reply of the ministry in court which further stated that the government would not provide legal aid to an individual before the US Court. At this, Saeed’s counsel AK Dogar argued that under the constitution, all citizens had equal rights.
