The Sindh Department of Youth Affairs has started hotel management courses, an official of the department announced on Tuesday. “The courses are of six-month and one-year duration and have been arranged in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (PITAHM) and Avari Hotels,” he said. The inaugural ceremony was held on Tuesday at the premises of PITAHM Clifton and attended by Youth Affairs Department Additional Secretary Tariq Mahmood Jafri, Rafia Haleem, Khurshid Ali Shaikh, Salim Siddiqui, Shaukat Ali and Fazal Rehman.
Three categories have been included in the training programme, including a one-year diploma in hotel management and six-month courses of front office guest service and food production. Training is being imparted to 70 youngsters in the first phase of the programme, The speakers at the inaugural session said that hotel management has emerged as a science, a profitable business with job generation and opportunities for upward mobility. Khurshid Ali Shaikh said that the department has started various training programmes in which a number of youngsters are participating.
