Abduction of senior surgeon foiled

The abduction of a senior Baloch surgeon was foiled on Tuesday due to deployment of police in Quetta in the wake of the Ghunji Dori and Quetta incidents in which 29 members of Shia community were killed and seven others injured.
According to details, former Principal Bolan Medical College Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rasool Kasi was about to enter his private hospital at Al-Gillani road when four individuals pounced on him and bundled him into a waiting Suzuki van and sped away. Meanwhile, hospital staff informed police who relayed a message to all police stations and check posts. The abductors abandoned the vehicle and abductee due to strict checking at Sariab road and escaped. It is first incident where abductors left a victim without receiving money with abduction for ransom on the rise in Quetta. However, police failed to discover clues on the identity of the abducting gang.
Three dead, one injured:
Elsewhere, three people were killed and one injured in incidents of firing and land mine explosions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.
In the first incident, unknown armed personnel opened fire on a public call office owned by Arshad Butt in Satellite Town and fled the scene. Arshad, University of Balochistan Library stenographer and running a part-time PCO received fatal bullet wounds. He died after a three hour struggle to revive him at the hospital. Police suspect the incident was a targeted killing, however, no responsibility was claimed.
