The Concerned Citizens of Pakistan (CCP) have expressed serious concern over reliable press reports that Rs 5 billion raised last year for the flood victims of Pakistan were still lying unused, and yet the government through the United Nations, has launched an appeal for $356 million as assistance for the areas affected by the recent floods. According to media sources, the previous $ 5 billion had still not been released by the government to affected areas despite efforts made by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). CCP appeals that the government to release the funds to the affected areas as soon as possible. CCP has also expressed concern over the fact that the government had instructed that all private donors be routed through the government.
