United States (US) Embassy and Pakistan-US Alumni Network on Monday organised a seminar titled “Leaders of Tomorrow” at National Library Pakistan. The Pakistan-US Alumni Network claims that it aims to build upon the shared values of the people of Pakistan and United States to promote trust and understanding and to create links between alumni within Pakistan. The seminar was organised to recognise the community services of ten alumni of US government funded exchange programs.
Those who were awarded this recognition included Fulbright Masters Alumna Ayesha Fazalur Rehman, Sports Envoy Program Alumna Sana Mahmood, International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) Alumna 2010 Aqsa Ghairat Ali, Fulbright Masters Alumnus 2006-08 Javed Iqbal, Youth Exchange and Study Programme Alumna 2008-09 Mehwish Zubairi, Fulbright Masters Alumna Shahina Masood, Citizens Exchanges Alumnus 1992 Gul Najam Jammy, Community College Alumna 2008-09 Beenish Javed, IVLP 2010 Alumna Zia Uddin Yousafzai.
All the winners on the occasion shared their experiences while pursuing education in the US. Speaking on the occasion, US embassy representative Mark Davidson said the event had been organised to celebrate the close relations between the US and Pakistan.
He said the people of Pakistan should work hard for the future of their country and stressed the need for the whole world to work collectively to bring its peoples together to spread peace. He added that the US wanted to see Pakistan stable and wished a bright future for its people.
Davidson said that every year more than 2,000 Pakistanis participated in US educational programmes.
He expressed hope that the sharing of educational programs like the said program would strengthen bilateral relations between two countries. He concluded saying that soon Pakistan would be a peaceful place.
