Islamic Relief Pakistan’s Child Welfare Programme (CWP) has been carrying out One to One (OTO) Orphans Sponsorship Programme in both rural and urban areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Pakistan. Currently 2266 orphans are sponsored by OTO and more than 1000 orphans have already benefitted from this programme, said an official of Islamic Relief. He said that the poorest of the poor families are targeted and financially supported to assist in meeting basic necessities of life. “Under Supporting Education through Health Assistance & Treatment – (SEHAT) project, objective is to facilitate 1000 orphans and their siblings from Rawalpindi in having primary health care and medical treatment for serious health issues by 2012” he informed. He said that the project intends to provide health facilities to orphan children by assisting them in getting medical treatment from a health centre of good repute in Rawalpindi within the tenure of 24 months as well as providing primary health care at their doorsteps.
