Altaf to Asfandyar: I’m sorry!

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain on Monday apologized for accusing Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali of taking dollars from the United States to win the 2008 elections. “I had said that Wali had accepted dollars from the US but I had no proof for this. I take my words back and express my sorrow over the offence caused to ANP leaders and workers.
I want to end hostilities because peace and stability, needed by Pakistan at this juncture, can be well appreciated by those who are sacrificing for the security and existence of the country,” Altaf said. To this, Wali issued a statement from the party’s central secretariat in Peshawar in which he lauded the MQM chief’s decision to take back his statement, saying that this would help restore durable peace in Karachi and would strengthen democracy.
