At least 24 militants were killed and more than 50 injured when security forces shelled and bombed suspected hideouts in Dabori area of Upper Orakzai Agency on Tuesday. The security forces bombed and shelled suspected hideouts of militants in retaliation of an attack, which killed one security official besides injuring five others. Officials said the injured personnel of the security forces were admitted to Combined Military Hospital in Kohat.
The officials said in retaliation, the security forces backed by helicopter gunships and artillery targeted suspected hideouts and compounds of militants. A number of dens and compounds were destroyed and 24 militants were killed. According to officials, the forces were advancing after the successful offensive. Meanwhile, a soldier was killed in a land mine explosion in Upper Kurram Agency. The soldier was pitching water from a fountain when the incident occurred.
