13 nabbed for selling dengue equipment at higher prices

The Lahore Police on Monday, under supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, conducted raids at Brandreth Road and arrested 13 wholesalers for selling fogging machines and other equipment, usually used in fumigation to control dengue, at higher prices.
According to the Lahore Police spokesman, the Deputy Inspector General Operations was informed that traders were selling fogging machines and other equipment at higher prices over which Dogar directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) VVIP Security Waqas to conduct a survey in this regard. During the survey, it was revealed that wholesalers of Brandreth Road had increased prices of fogging machines up to 50 percent. After knowing this, the Deputy Inspector General Operations along with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Bilal Yasin raided the aforesaid place and arrested 13 wholesalers. The Nolakha Police registered a case against the arrested men under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The DIG Operations said that whoever was found involved in raising prices would be penalised according to law. Talking to journalists, Yasin said that the Punjab government would not only arrest people involved in selling fogging machines at higher prices but also launch a crackdown against dealers involved in selling medicines at higher prices.
