Pakistan’s narrowest victory in T20 cricket

Pakistan recorded their smallest victory in terms of runs by beating Zimbabwe by five runs in the second and last match of the T20 series at Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Sunday (September 18). The seven-run victory over South Africa at Nottingham on June 18, 2009 was Pakistan’s previous smallest victory in terms of runs in Twenty-20 cricket. With this victory, Pakistan have won the T20 series 2-0. They have won everything on this tour of Zimbabwe. After beating Zimbabwe in one-off Test, Pakistan went to win three-one day match series 3-0. Waqar Younis had a successful final series as Pakistan coach.
n Kyle Jarvis recorded the best bowling performance for Zimbabwe at home by taking three for 15 in four overs. It was third best bowling performance for Zimbabwe in T20 cricket after 4-31 by Elton Chigumbura against England at Cape Town on September 13, 2007 and three for 11 by Graeme Cremer against West Indies at Port of Spain on February 28, 2010. Ray Price’s two for 24 against India at Harare on June 12, 2010 was the previous best for Zimbabwe at home. Chris Mpofu’s three for 16 at King City on October 12, 2008 was the previous best for Zimbabwe against Pakistan in T20 cricket.
n Mohmmed Hafeez became the first batsman to score back to back half centuries against Zimbabwe in T20 cricket. After making 71 in the first match, Hafeez went to make 51 in the second match. He also became the first Pakistani and fifth batsman overall to score 100 or more runs against Zimbabwe in T20 cricket. With 122 in two innings, Hafeez became the second highest run getter against Zimbabwe. South African Jean-Paul Duminy holds the record of making highest number of runs against Zimbabwe in T20 cricket with 131 runs in two innings.
n Hafeez also became the highest wicket taker against Zimbabwe in T20 cricket by taking seven wickets in two matches. WI Darren Sammy who took five wickets in one match held the previous record.
n Mohammed Hafeez received his second man of the match award in 24 T20 matches.
