KP teachers give govt 3 days to outstanding salaries

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association said on Monday that all public sector universities across the province would be shut down if the government did not release the announced 15 percent rise in salaries of university employees within three days.
During a General Body meeting of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) which was attended by presidents and general secretaries of all four public sector universities including Islamia College, Agriculture University, Engineering University and Peshawar University Teachers’ Association, participants decided to give a three-day ultimatum till September 22, to universities’ administrations and federal government for release of the announced 15 percent increase in salaries of universities employees. They also warned that none of the officials would be allowed to work and even the Class -III and Class IV work force would not be allowed to perform routine duties. They said further that the teaching staff would observe a complete boycott from regular classes until their demands were not met.
