ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan has welcomed MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s decision to retract from his controversial remarks.
Altaf had accused ANP leader of receiving millions of dollars from the United States to take part in 2008 general elections.
His allegation stirred political tension between the two parties as both sides were demanding ban on each other. But in a statement from London today, Hussain regretted that his remarks had hurt the sentiments of ANP leaders and activists. “I withdraw from these remarks,” he said in the statement.
The MQM chief said he wanted to end the bitterness between two parties as Pakistan needed peace and reconciliation. According to political pundits, Altaf’s decision would help defuse tension between the two sides.
