Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while declaring Tharparkar district as calamity hit area has said that twenty thousand rupees will be given to each affected family through Watan Cards.
He was addressing the flood affectees during his visit to a camp in Noukot of Tharparkar district on Sunday. The Prime Minister distributed rashan and other essential goods among flood affectees. Earlier‚ the Prime Minister visited several relief camps in Mithi. On the occasion he said that all available sources will be put in place for the rehabilitation of flood affected people. The DCO Mithi briefed the Prime Minister about the losses caused by flood in the areas.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that all out efforts are being to provide relief to rain and flood-hit people in Sindh.
During visits to relief and medical camps in Sanghar‚ he said that the devastation caused by heavy rains and floods in the province is far beyond their imagination.The prime minister hoped that the government will overcome this challenge with the cooperation of philanthropists‚ donor agencies and the international institutions. He inquired about the well-being of affected people at relief and medical camps and distributed ration bags among them.
District Coordination Officer Sangarh Ghulam Haider Mangrio in a briefing informed the prime minister that eight hundred thousand people have been affected by unprecedented rain in the district. Over twenty-five thousand houses have been damaged and thirty-two people killed.The DCO said there is urgent need for tents‚ ration bags‚ medicines and clean drinking water.
The prime minister said that the parliamentary committee for relief will visit every district and review the situation there. Later‚ PM Gilani visited Zardari House in Nawabshah and met Members of National Assembly Faryal Talpur and Azra Fazal Pechuho. He discussed flood situation and the relief measures with them.
Meanwhile‚ a ten member delegation of Sindh Chamber of Agriculture called on Prime Minister in Hyderabad.The delegation apprised the PM about the heavy losses sustained by the agriculturists due to unprecedented heavy rains and floods. The Prime Minister said that the government is seriously considering to provide seeds and fertilizer to the farmers for Rabi crops on subsidized rates.
I have a deal to propose. If junior Gillani coughs up Hajj and NICL corruption money and deposits in flood fund, SC CJ should consider to let him off the hook.
