The Lux Style Awards 2011 gathered a galaxy of showbiz stars in Karachi on Saturday night, giving a pleasant opportunity to many people of the city to watch the stars and glamour together. The 10th Lux Style Awards kicked off with a performance of Reema and her team on a hit song of ‘Love Mein Ghum’. The catchy tune, colourful costumes and stunning choreography by Pappu Samrat set the stage alight. HSY also performed with Reema, but he failed to impress the audience as his appearance was akin to that of a joker.
Many top performers of TV and the big screen received awards, but the stunning award was the one that was bagged by Bushra Ansari as the Best Actress for TV play ‘Dolly Ki Aayegi Baraat’. People watching the awards were not expecting that superstar Bushra Ansari, who has already bagged countless awards, would win another award.
The much anticipated awards night was celebrated with even more fanfare this year as Pakistan’s premiere awards show celebrated a triumphant decade of supporting and acknowledging excellence. As always, the red carpet was teeming with celebrities and stars all dressed up to see and be seen by the participants of the awards show.
The Lifetime Achievement in Fashion award was given to Pakistan’s first fashion editor Samina Ibrahim who introduced the concept of the fashion spread in magazines many years ago when the Herald was revamped in 1983. Since then, first at Herald and then at Newsline, Samina has defined style each month and the Lux Style Awards paid a befitting tribute to the impresario who defined boundaries and set standards.
The Unilever Chairman’s Lifetime Achievement award was given to legendary playback and ghazal singer Mahnaz by Marketing Vice President Amir Paracha and a glorious onstage tribute was paid to her by Meera and Mahira, who performed to some of her best love songs.
With Nokia partnering with the Lux Style Awards, all the winners were given Nokia handsets along with a goody bag of gifts from Scentstation and Colours. Damas presented the Best Female Model winner with a diamond ring. Frieha Altaf, the country’s famous director and producer of fashion shows and style awards, had organised the 10th Lux Style Awards in Karachi.
