Keeping the tradition of bestowing favours on friends of his jail years alive, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani recently allowed a year’s extension in deputation to Amir Nisar Chaudhry, community welfare attaché, Manchester, UK, who is the brother of Faisal Nisar Chaudhry, the former superintendent of Adiyala Jail.
Earlier in 2010, Faisal too received favours one after the other by Gilani when he was first appointed in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat on deputation as liaison officer and was then made deputy secretary in BPS-19 by the Establishment Division vide notification No 3/11/2008-E-2 dated January 30, 2010 and inducted in the Secretariat Group.
Generally, District Management and Office Management Group officers are members of the Secretariat Group and are trained extensively to work in the federal secretariat in various disciplines. A source in the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said Gilani had rewarded Faisal for the services rendered to him during his imprisonment in Adiyala. Now, the PM has given a one-year extension in posting to Faisal’s brother Amir, whose three-year posting term was expiring in December.
Currently, Faisal is working as the estate management director in the Capital Development Authority (CDA). As many as 14 community welfare attaché’s serving in various Pakistani embassies and consulates abroad are going to complete their three-year term this year and aspirant officers have started lobbying to get lucrative jobs. “The Establishment Division has short-listed the names of around 98 applicants, but the names would be finalised by the PM,” said a source in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Presently, aspirants of community welfare attaché posts are selected by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis.
