Inter students protest against BISE’s incompetence

Intermediate students protested against the Lahore Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education’s (BISE) management for delay in the result and transcripts on Saturday outside the Lahore Board Office. Students said the admin had been failed to provide result cards of students even a week after the intermediate result announcement.
The results of more than 25,000 were late. Students said the board had not entered the subjective marks of thousands of students, which could potentially deprive them of admission into varsities. Various errors in results were exposed when the top positions were changed by Board administration. Due to the delay in issuance of results and result cards of a number of students, various universities of Lahore extended their admission-form submission deadline.
Punjab University on Saturday announced that it had extended its date to September 21. Government College University and University of Education also announced similar extensions. Sources at the Lahore Board said all result-related issues, roll number slips and result cards were due to the inefficiency and incompetence of the Lahore Board-appointed IT consultant Majid Naeem.
On Saturday, a large number of students allegedly broke into the computer section, while the staff deputed there fled in order to avoid being manhandled by the angered mob. Police was later called by the BISE authorities. Candidates have been forced to visit the board office on a daily basis in attempts to get their results rectified.
A spokesman of the Punjab Government said admissions of students to the next class would not be stopped due to the delay in issuance of intermediate result cards – however, if needed, the date of the admission would be extended further.
