Federal information and Broadcasting minister Dr. Firdous Aashiq Awan has announced that focal offices would be setup in 21 flood affected districts.
Addressing an event thrown in her honor at Nawabshah press club, she announced that the process would be initiated from district Shaheed Benazirabad from where all information would be gleaned over to PM and Provincial ministers.
On the occasion, the federal minister also announced that Nawabshah press club would be developed as a role model, and announced a Rs 5 million grant for the project, besides announcing a future quota in all abroad visits of PM and holding the next oath taking ceremony of elected press club representatives in Aiwan-e-Sadr.
She also announced that following the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, Benazir Bhutto Media University, in collusion with China, to train aspiring journalists was also on the anvil.
A project aspiring to train aspiring youth media cadres from Pakistan in China was also unveiled, the first batch of which would include two members of Nawabshah press club.
The federal minister also declared that democracy and journalism were interlinked to each other, and cited the first ever appointment of chairman of press council of Pakistan, established to play its due role for alleviating the problems /issues of journalists.
