At least eight more people reportedly lost their lives from the Dengue virus in Lahore on Saturday taking the death toll to 38 in the city.
Hospitals in the province are crowded with Dengue patients who complain that despite government orders there are not enough resources to treat the virus.
The deceased, 18-year-old Kajal, a resident of Qurban Line, was admitted to the Services Hospital Lahore after being tested positive with dengue. Dengue virus swept away the platelets from her blood that caused her death.
32-year-old Maimoona, passed away at Fauji Foundation Hospital where she was being treated from dengue virus.
The dengue fever has claimed the lives of 32 people in Lahore, besides affecting some 6,000 people.
In a step to deal with the growing number of Dengue patients in the province, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has fixed the blood test price at Rs 90 in private laboratories. These laboratories have been warned of strict action if they charge more.
Sri Lankan medical experts fear that dengue virus is not going to end in Pakistan over the next 10 years. Sri Lankan team leader Dr Tesesra says that Pakistan could require a decade to contain the deadly virus. The visiting Sri Lankan team also inspected various state-run hospitals and saw dengue virus patients there.
