MQM observes Farooq’s first death anniversary

The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) observed the first death anniversary of Dr Imran Farooq throughout the country, according to a press release issued by the party on Friday. Recitation of the Holy Quran and fateha was performed and tributes were paid to Dr Farooq for his services to the party.
The largest gathering for the anniversary was held at Lal Qila Ground Azizabad in which MQM leaders including Anis Qaimkhani, Kunwar Khalid Yunus, Shoaib Bukhari, Dr Nusrat, Jawed Kazmi, Mumtaz Anwar, Wasay Jalil, Kunwar Naveed, Shahid Latif, Wasim Aftab, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Shakir Ali, Salim Tajik, Tousif Khanzada, Saif Yar Khan, Naik Muhammad, Gulfaraz Khattak, Mustafa Kamal, Yousuf Shahwani and Kaiful Wura participated.
MQM leader Amir Khan, parliamentarians, former local government elected representatives, the family of the late party leader and office-bearers and activists of the party were also present to pay honour to Dr Farooq at the gathering. Maulana Asad Deobandi offered prayers for the departed soul. Special prayers were also said for the long life and the health of the MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
Gatherings were also held in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Badin, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, Dadu, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Khairpur, Thatta, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Jamshoro, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Lahore, Gujranwala and places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Balochistan.
The overseas units of the MQM also held gatherings in which workers participated and offered fateha for Dr Farooq. Earlier, members of the MQM Rabita Committee visited the graveyard in Azizabad and laid a floral wreath on the grave of the slain leader, who was killed in London last year.

Altaf pays tribute to slain party man
KARACHI – Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain paid tribute to Dr Imran Farooq by saying, “The way Dr Farooq rendered services for the success of the movement and spread the ideology of the movement like a true, sincere and selfless worker was highly commendable.”
Speaking at the first anniversary of the slain leader, Hussain said that Dr Farooq was a beacon of light for all the workers and office-bearers of the movement. Hussain maintained that Dr Farooq was a great hero whose name would be remembered in the history of the MQM. The MQM chief vowed that the blood of Dr Farooq would not go waste, and the movement would definitely reach its destiny.
He also prayed for the divine forgiveness of the departed soul and for patience for the family of Dr Farooq. Staff Report
