A Tucson fire spokeswoman said on Friday that two ambulances were sent to an Air Force base that was on lockdown amid unconfirmed reports of gunfire.
A Davis-Monthan Air Force Base spokesperson did not confirm that shots had been fired or if anyone has been injured. Senior Airman Timothy Dunaway said traffic had been reduced to a single-point entry, but refused to elaborate. He said two elementary schools on the base were on lockdown.
Tucson fire spokeswoman Trish Tracy said besides the ambulances, two fire trucks were dispatched to the base.
Davis-Monthan is adjacent to the Pima Air and Space Museum and the “boneyard” for old military and government airplanes that is a popular destination for aviation enthusiasts.
