Pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Aamir has pleaded guilty to his involvement in spot-fixing during Pakistan’s test series in England last year, according to media reports. A private TV channel claimed that the young cricketer had submitted a confessional statement in a court in London. The alleged bookie, Mazhar Majeed also confessed to spot-fixing during the hearing.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refused to comment on the issue. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had previously banned Aamir from all forms of cricket for a period of five years. During Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010, British tabloid, News of the World, accused then-captain Salman Butt, fast-bowler Mohammad Asif and Aamir of spot-fixing, alleging that they bowled no-balls at pre-arranged times during August’s fourth Test at Lord’s.
The News of the World alleged that an agent affiliated with some of the Pakistani players, later identified as Majeed, had accepted a bribe from an undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood for information that Aamir and Asif would deliberately deliver no balls at specific points during the match, information that could be used by gamblers to make wagers with inside information.

  2. Confessional statement by Mohaamd Aamir in a British court yesterday has brought shame not only to Mohammad Aamir but to the whole nation. A bowler with immense cricketing abilities has ruined his carrier who was rated as the best upcoming left arm fast bowler after Wasim Akram from all leading cricket experts.

  3. Moula Buksh – seriously, you have no idea what you are typing. Leave the politics & debate to those that know what they are saying & doing!

  4. good riddance. He proved that he didn't deserve what was on offer. Honesty and truthfulness look hard at the start but if you persevere you'll get where you want to. He should be banned for life not for just 5 years…
