Arrest spree continues as 24 more held

The city’s police arrested around 24 suspects, including 12 alleged target killers, from different parts of the city on Friday. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Karachi police claimed that it arrested three alleged target killers belonging to a political party from Peerabad and PIB Colony.
CID SSP Chaudhry Aslam told the media that Naeem Zada, Sohail alias Ahmed and Kashif alias Shakeel Burger have been arrested and heavy weapons were recovered from their possession. “Five Kalashnikovs, four grenades, three TT pistols, three 9mm pistols, one rifle and hundreds of bullets were recovered from the arrested men,” he added.
The police official said that Sohail, Naeem and Kashif have confessed to their involvement in 45, 22 and three targeted killings, respectively. In another police action, five alleged target killers belonging to a political party were arrested from Hussain Hazara Goth. They were identified as Sanaullah, Abid Mastooi, Ansar, Ijaz and Gulab. The Shahrah-e-Faisal SHO said they recovered eight TT pistols and two Kalashnikovs from the possession of the suspects. He said that the arrested men have confessed that they have killed eight people.
The Shareefabad police also said they arrested seven people identified as Umer, Jaffer, Ghazi, Noor Zaman, Bakht Meer, Saif-Ur-Rehman and Rashid and recovered weapons and drugs from their possession.  The Brigade police arrested a man, Shahbaz, believed to be involved in a murder case, from Lines Area. The New Karachi police conducted a raid at Sadiqabad graveyard and arrested two men, Tayab Waheed and Mohammad Ali Akbar, and recovered two TT pistols from their possession.
The Rangers and police conducted a search operation in Mowach Goth and arrested around 25 people. Sources claimed that 18 of them were released after initial investigation, while seven were shifted to an undisclosed place for interrogation. The Malir excise police conducted raid at a liquor factory in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and arrested three men.
The Pakistan Customs seized luggage at the Karachi airport and recovered 16kg heroin packed in plastic packets. The luggage was booked in Muscat through PIA flight No 234.
