Karachi is in the grip of violence once again. Each day brings more deaths and destruction to this unfortunate city. The Sindh government has failed to protect the life and property of the people of Karachi. One of the major reasons for violence in Karachi is the influx of illegal weapons, including mortars and rocket launchers into the city. These weapons are used by terrorist elements without any fear of the law-enforcement agencies.
Short-term measures can’t provide a lasting solution. To ensure permanent peace, the city has to be cleansed of all kinds of illegal weapons. To do this, a house-to-house search to recover illegal weapons needs to be carried out. It is a question of establishing the government writ and this must be done at all costs.
