Dengue virus death toll rises to 27 as two more die

Two women died of dengue virus on Friday, raising the overall death toll to 27 in Lahore.
A woman infected with dengue virus overnight passed away in the hospital and 521 people were tested positive for dengue during last 24 hours in the city.
The number of dengue patients exceeded 5,510 in Punjab; of them, 4,619 belong to Lahore.
In Bahawalnagar, a woman died of fatal dengue fever in a hospital, and the death toll reached to five in Bahawalnagar.
Two other people were confirmed with having dengue fever in Gujranwala.
Two cases of the dengue fever are reported in Balochistan also. Three days ago, the first case of the fever was detected in the province when a 12 year old boy was brought to a hospital.
10-year-old boy, Faiq Khoso, has been confirmed having the dengue virus and he has been admitted to the Jinnah Hospital.
Meantime, experts from Sri Lanka were given briefing at Institute of Public Health, Lahore. The head of the Sri Lankan team Dr Hasitha Tissera said they would offer every possible support to Pakistanis at this critical juncture.
Punjab Health Department claimed patients were fast recovering at government hospitals, adding that people inflicted with dengue fever were being given free of cost medical care at government and private hospitals.
Meanwhile, a lady traffic warden distributed awareness pamphlets among the passengers in vehicles regarding dengue fever in Faisalabad. The pamphlets showed definition, symptoms, treatment, care and prevention of dengue fever. Citizens told media that such steps are good and will help people know about the disease. The city traffic police are highly appreciated by the people for starting such a campaign.
