Hurriyat Conference senior leader Syed Ali Geelani has expressed serious concern over his continued house arrest since September 3 and described it highly condemnable.
A statement said that the youngest daughter of the senior Kashmiri leader was battling for life in a hospital in Saudi Arabia and marriages of his grandson and granddaughter were taking place on September 18 and 19 at Duroo in Sopore in Indian held Kashmir but the authorities have placed him under the house arrest.
Due to non-availability of passports, the Kashmiri leader and his other family members could not visit Saudi Arabia to see his daughter, who is admitted in ICU of the International Medical Centre in Jeddah, a spokesman of the leader said, and termed the statement of a minister and senior National Conference leader baseless and contradictory about Geelani’s arrest.
“For the past month, police have, under a new strategy, placed a heavy contingent outside the residence of Ali Geelani and he is not allowed to go outside his house,” the spokesman said.
