Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah likened the Punjab Governor Latif Khosa and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz to dengue mosquitoes, talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.
Sanaullah said, “Raja Riaz and the Punjab governor are akin to dengue mosquitoes, dangerous and not treatable, conspiring against the people of Punjab.”
He said those criticising the government’s response to the dengue outbreak had no connection with the people. He said, “critics should stop criticising and support the provincial government to contain the disease.” He said the opposition should not play politics over dengue, claiming the Government of Punjab had taken every possible step to contain the dengue outbreak.
He said PPP’s Raja Riaz lacked sense and was ‘better left alone’.
Sanaullah, also, said Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik was adept at sending false and fabricated reports. However, he said these reports could not be ignored, nor be discarded in dustbins; since they express threats to the lives of the governor, CJP and other high ranking officials. He said their security would be increased even though Rehman Malik’s report was a lie. He said Pervez Elahi had been provided adequate security and similar security had been provided to the abducted Shahbaz Taseer; only that he eschewed the security on the day he was abducted.
He also said the Punjab both Governor Punjab and PPP were unconcerned about creating an autonomous Seraiki province, and were using the issue to fool people into playing ethnic and linguistic politics. He said the PML-N was not interested in the formation of a Seraiki province.
He also said no recommendation has been given for action against the CM’s Principal Secretary Dr Tauqeer in the judicial commission’s report regarding threats to Justice Khawaja Sharif.
