National Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved curtailment by 65 paisas per unit in the tariff KESC and it will be applicable to all consumers barring life line consumers.
As per private TV channel the hearing was held under Chairman NEPRA Khalid Saeed in NEPRA Thursday.
KESC took the plea that the power generated by it through its own resources has cost Rs 460 million during the month of July. On the other hand cost of electricity generated through IP resources remained Rs 256 million. Over all electricity was sold to KESC valuing Rs 1.3 billion during the month of July. KESC had requested for reduction in power tariff by 62 paisas per unit. However NEPRA has accorded approval to decrease in tariff by 65 paisas per unit.
