The staff of Eye Ward 3 at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) protested on Wednesday against the unnecessary interference and misbehaviour of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Yaseen Suhal with a nurse and ward boy over what he claimed were dissatisfactory hygiene in the ward.
LGH Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) Abdul Khalid told reporters that a nurse named Frazia was giving treatment to a dengue patient when a man interrupted her. He said the man held Frazia by her arm and started pulling her towards the washroom, claiming that the hospital administration had made dissatisfactory cleaning arrangements there. Meanwhile, he said, a ward boy tried to stop the man, at which the man slapped him and started shouting for the medical superintendent.
He said that he after hearing about the incident, he reached the scene and asked the man who he was, upon which he introduced himself as MPA Yaseen Suhal and claimed he had paid a surprise visit at the hospital to check on arrangements for dengue patients. The DMS said that because of the MPA’s misbehaviour, the nurses stopped working in protest for a few minutes, but the relatives of the patients made the MPA leave, after which the hospital staff restarted their work.
MPA Suhal was not available for comment.
