The office bearers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Federation of All-Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) demanded on Thursday that the government pay 15 percent increase in university employees’ salaries. Addressing a news conference, FAPUASA provincial President Dr Johar Ali said depriving KP university employees of the government-announced salary increase was unjust, as the employees in rest of the provinces had already been given the increase. He said acquiring funds for the universities and implementing increase in salaries was the respective vice chancellors’ responsibility, which they failed to deliver. Flanked by FAPUASA Central President Professor Dr Fida Muhammad, Johar urged the governor, who is the chancellor of all public sector universities in the province, to use his influence and ensure the release of funds for increase in salaries.
