The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) asked all stakeholders of the city including government and private organisations on Wednesday to participate in its anti-dengue campaign so that it could be made effective and extended to each and every street and home of Karachi.
“The CDGK is implementing its micro-management plan to curb the spread of dengue fever in the metropolis, said DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed while addressing a meeting held at the Civic Centre.
“Dengue virus can only be eliminated with joint efforts. The city government will carry on its campaign till November and all other organisations should include it among their top priorities,” he added.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Cantonment Board, Pakistan Railways, Civil Aviation Authority, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim, Defence Housing Authority, the Sui Southern Gas Company, Steel Mills and CDGK officers.
The DCO said that cantonment boards should start fumigation in their respective areas and hospitals should set up special anti-dengue cells that could be linked with the central cell established by the city government.
The special dengue ward at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital can be contacted at 0800-12012 on a 24-hour basis.
The DCO informed the participants of the meeting that 90 percent of patients suffering from dengue fever have been kept under observation and were provided platelets.
