The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on a school bus in Peshawar that resulted in the death of five innocent children and wounded many others and said these terror strikes should be censured in the strongest possible terms as a heinous violation of child rights.
“SPARC denounces these violations and proposes that positive steps are taken in order to ensure that this vulnerable section of society is duly protected,” said a press release. It said the persistent killings, especially of children, at the hands of state and non-state actors violated human rights, humanitarian laws and Islamic injunctions. The SPARC said the attacks on residential areas, public places and even schools and mosques were not permitted under any of the humanitarian laws and Islam.
“SPARC demands from the state and non-state actors, including international actors, for strict observance of the international human rights, humanitarian laws and injunctions of Islamic values,” it added. The SPARC spokesman said his organisation believed that it was imperative to ensure that children could lead a safe and healthy life without being sufferers of these atrocities.
