The first election settlement between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) surfaced on Tuesday, as both political allies have decided to field a joint candidate in the PP-220 by-election. PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich and General Secretary Samiullah Khan called on Senior Federal Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the State Guest House.
The overall political situation of the province and the coming by-election in Sahiwal was discussed in the meeting. It was decided that both the parties will field a joint candidate whose name will be finalised by the two parties. In the 2008 general elections, the seat was won by the PML-Q but the winning candidate switched sides. Elahi’s government in Punjab had paid special attention to the development of Sahiwal and strong resentment was shown by the people when the winning candidate crossed the assembly floor.
