Police told to curb crime

Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Yousaf Malik has told police officials to take effective steps to control crime in the city and ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals at the earliest. He stated this while addressing a meeting held here to review the law and order situation in the city, a press statement issued here on Wednesday said. The SSP said that an effective strategy would be vital to curb crime and told the officials to adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He told the meeting that Islamabad IGP Bani Amin Khan had categorically ordered to focus on resolving the public complaintsm, curbing car theft incidents in the city and taking every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. Malik said the authorities would not tolerate corruption and they would purge the police department of corrupt element. He also told all police officials working in the city to improve their performance. He said FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience to the citizens. He also directed police officials to strictly monitoring sluggish and corrupt cops. SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani, City SP Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich, SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Investigation) Ch Liaqat Ali, SP (Legal) Javed Iqbal Khattak, all the sub-divisional police officers and station house officers (SHO) attended the meeting.
