Pakistan, Turkey enjoy good relations: Turk scholar

Pakistan and Turkey have been enjoying close brotherly relations with much affinity and hardly any disagreements, said Ankara University Professor Dr Turkkaya Ataov during a public talk organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) on Tuesday.
Dr Ataov has authored numerous books and articles shedding light on Pakistan-Turkey relations and how they have evolved over the years including “The Origin of US Expansion” in English. He also talked about his personal experiences dating back several years and how he played an instrumental role in disseminating information about Pakistan, its culture, art and poetry in Turkey, particularly the paintings of Abdur Rahman Chughtai.
The academician translated Governor General Ghulam Muhammad’s.press conference speech from Turkish into English upon his visit to Turkey. He mentioned that the US policies have been very critical since 1991. He highlighted the close affiliation of Pakistan and Turkey and said the two countries enjoyed good bilateral relations. Ataov informed that as there was an Ata Turk Avenue in Pakistan, Ankara similarly had a Jinnah Street with a big portrait of the Quaid and another street named after the national poet-philosopher Allama Iqbal.
He was of the view that relations between the countries should be promoted by the sharing each others’ cultures, including poetry.
