An accountability court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of former Bank of Punjab (BoP) president Hamesh Khan, former honorary consulate general in Kazakhstan Seth Nisar, Haris Steel Mills Owner Sheikh Afzal and Sheikh Munir until October 3, in the BoP loan scam worth Rs 12 billion. American nationality holder Hamesh was accused of issuing loans worth Rs 6.20 billion to Afzal beyond his authorities. Nisar also got Rs 930 million from bank-ups. The court, extending the judicial remand, directed NAB authorities to file the reference against accused by the next date of hearing.
Separately, an accountability court extended the physical remand of Nazir Ahmed Sindhu, Naveed Ahmed Sindhu and Nadeem Ahmed Sindhu involved in fake allotment of 14 plots in Model Town Extension until September 29. Nazir was a property dealer while Nadeem and Naveed are his sons. They were required by NAB Punjab to join the investigation against Lahore Development Authority (LDA) former town planning director Masood Ahmed Qazi.
Nazir got exemption of 14 five marla plots situated in Model Town Extension on fake documents from Masood and the plots were allotted to Nadeem and Naveed afterwards. The accused in this way, with active aid of each other, misappropriated valuable 14 plots owned by LDA and caused a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees to the national exchequer. The court, extending the remand, directed the investigation officer to complete the investigation by the next date of hearing.
