CCPO envisions a drug-free Lahore

Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir said on Wednesday that the Lahore Police seized a large amount of drugs from drug dealers as part of their anti-narcotics campaign. Talking to representatives of various non-governmental organisations (NGO), he said that police seized 53 kilogrammes heroine, 418 kilogrammes charas, 404 kilogrammes hashish, 24 kilogrammes opium, 222 intoxicating pills, 167 capsules, 319 injections and 21,087 bottles of liquor from the possession of drug dealers and registered 2,661 cases against them.
Tahir, who is also chairman of the Lahore Drug Free City Project, said that the elimination of narcotics was the highest priority of the Lahore Police. The CCPO said that complete eradication of drug dens in the city should be ensured otherwise officers who were careless while eradicating drug dens from their areas would be penalised.
