Abbottabad commission flies the American route

The Abbottabad Commission visited Abbotabad on Tuesday and flew over the likely route adopted by American helicopters during the Abbotabad operation.
The commission landed at Kala Dhaka and met local notables and others who watched the American helicopters land in the area on night between 1st and 2nd May. They conducted extensive interviews of civilian officers and locals. The commission then flew to Ghazi Aviation Air Base, Tarbela and met the base commander who gave detailed briefing.
It visited the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) and PMA commandant briefed the commission on events after the operation. He detailed the measures adopted on the ground by the PMA quick response force, local police and other security agencies to conduct a rescue operation and cordon off the area. The commission visited the compound that housed Osama Bin Laden and was briefed about the compound.
It spent about two hours visiting the entire compound and understand its layout. The commission will record the statements of army witness, civilian and security agency representatives on 14th September at 930 am at KP House Abbotabad.
