You didn’t deserve to top according to BISE’s standards!

The Punjab government, despite all its claims of good governance and following merit and fair play, has turned a blind eye to the biggest ever negligence at the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), where some officials allegedly tried to tamper the first position of a female candidate, further exposing the extremely low standards being followed at the board, Pakistan Today has learnt.
BISE Computer Section employees alleged that the Punjab government was least concerned to investigate the matter, as BISE Computer Section In-charge Dr Majid Naeem was an influential person and demanded the Punjab CM to hold a fair inquiry about tempering of the position of the female candidate. They said that their section had become a hub of corruption and it seemed that some BISE high-ups had a plan to change the first position and the CM should take personal interest and expose those corrupt people who tried to commit such a big blunder.
BISE employees said that they did not trust the inquiry committee set up by BISE Chairman Dr Akram Kashmiri, as the committee will try to favour the culprits and demanded the CM to personally hold a fair inquiry. On the other hand, Kashmiri said that the board had set up an inquiry committee on the issue and will soon expose the people responsible for the blunder. He said that he had suspended an official over the issue and the inquiry committee will announce its findings after investigation. A number of BISE officials expressed concerns about the attitude of the Punjab government, especially the CM, who was not interested in taking notice of the corruption at the BISE Computer Section Department.
BISE officials did a big blunder by tempering the position of Intermediate Arts Category, as a shining student of the Mansoora Degree College Sara Abbas was declared fail and instead of showing her actual marks, 93, she was shown as failed with 29 marks. Sara exposed the corruption by raising her voice and when investigated, she was at the top by securing 955 marks in the arts group and forced the BISE to give her a gold medal and cash price. Although, Sara got justice but the whole nation and even BISE employees were condemning the corrupt mafia, which tried to deprive the student from her right who was an asset of the whole nation.
According to sources, this blunder was done by computer section employees, as they fed these marks just to change the first position. A computer section employee, seeking anonymity, said that the BISE chairman was cheating the nation by terming it an error, as in reality it happened with a plan of some corrupt BISE officials. He said that it did not happen for the first time that the position was changed by employees, as two years ago, computer section programmer Waheedur Rehman changed a Punjab College student’s position and was spared by the mafia with a minor punishment.
He said that it was a tragedy that the same employee was still present in the computer section and the corrupt mafia also had strong roots. Another computer section official said that Dr Naeem was a relative of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and on the base of favoritism, he was hired by the BISE chairman and drawing a huge salary but his performance was zero and students were suffering due to a single person. He questioned that was it a minor crime that the BISE changed the first position of a shining student and said that justice demanded that the CM changed the whole BISE administration and also sent them to jail after registering a police case, as it was the biggest ever academic crime. A senior BISE clerk, seeking anonymity, said that whole nation knows that this year’s Matriculation result was delayed due to the misstatement and poor performance of Dr Naeem and the Punjab government did not take any action and only parents and students suffered. He said that the whole BISE administration was surprised that why the Punjab government was silent on the issue of corruption at the BISE.
